Poem

Poem

Its amazing how once,
you were there,
And everyone did care.
You shared your smile,
When everyone cried.
You did your best,
to cure the rest.
You were the stars in the sky,
How beautiful, Oh My!
Its funny though,
That when you were gone,
Everyone mourned,
And day by day
You just slipped away…

Poem

Raising his weapon against his rival,
He remembered the words of his bible.
He then saw a beam
And the moon did it seem,
For him, was it the brightest of all nights.
A voice echoing through the valleys,
It seemed to be coming from the alleys
Was his fate now decided?
Sinking to his knees
The pain rushed down his spine
But to him,
It was all fine…

Propaganda-Summary

Propaganda: The Open Secret

Propaganda is the technique used to persuade people into believing something. For propaganda to be effective, only one side of the story is presented. Advertisers and politicians use media strategies to flood people with information. Propaganda shows how well one side of an argument’s ideology is and portrays the bad side of the opposing system. It can also be described as being biased. Propaganda in the past was used to make one believe in a system of government. Many who make use of propaganda deny it, and declare it as the truth.

Review of Animal Farm

Review/Prediction of Animal Farm

Animal Farm" is a satirical fable of great symbolic value, The novel is an allusion to the Russian Revolution and can be seen as the historical analysis of the causes of the failure of communism. The novel aims to prove that the greed for power in human nature surely does corrupt him and makes him more self-centered. The novel was a clever and finely disguised attack on communism
Whatever the good intentions of political movements and developments, power corrupts, and the strong will always exploit the weak.

. After chasing the owner away, the animals feel free to function the way they want and keep all the produce to themselves. But this is until the greed for power becomes prevalent. The pigs on the farm take over management and convince the other animals of their supremacy. The other animals, entrenched in the philosophy of the revolution, obey the pigs and work hard for the betterment of the farm. However, the pigs use them to satisfy their own selfish needs and desires.
Animal Farm successfully presents how the mechanism of propaganda and brainwashing works in administration and management, by showing how the pigs could make the other animals believe practically anything.
The novel maybe seen as an analysis of the Soviet regime, or as a warning against political power.A very moving and touching novel, which highlights the disappointment of an idyllic vision gone wrong. Assists in understanding history and Capitalism and Communism.

SWOT analysis- Mr Sujee

SWOT Analysis- Mr Sujee

S: Mr. Sujee, there were many strengths which I had identified in you in the past few months. Firstly is that you have a remarkable command of the English language which is excellent in the way you teach. Also your standard of teaching is high which is great as it makes us pupils familiar with the English language. I really appreciate it!

W: I found that for me as a grade 10 learner, the leap from grade 9 to 10 was great. To adjust to all the new rules, the different manner of teaching and the fast pace of work, although I found no real weakness as it has made me independent and improved me as a person. Someone would have had to make that change sooner or later and I am glad that it was you!

O: Mr. Sujee, in the few months that you have started teaching us, you have bestowed upon us some of the greatest opportunities. For example, the greatest opportunity I had was doing the audio assignment. It made me grow as a person and become aware of other peoples personalities and capabilities. It gave me the chance to interact with the outside world and become more involved in the media and the way it works. It was splendid and really motivating.

T:The main threat that I have faced, is the step of adjusting to a completely different world.
Also with the audio assignment, there were times when I wasn’t so sure about myself anymore and whether I could accomplish all that I have with all the trouble shooting and the problems, I though it would never end!
But when I look back, I feel that I can accomplish anything and that it just requires tough work and a lot of time!

Mr. Sujee, I really admire your enthusiasm for the English language and I highly appreciate the way you teach it as well. I think its brilliant and I hope we experience more of it in the years to come!!

Book Review

A Long Walk Home
By Naazneen Ayob
Reviewed By Zakiyyah Kolia

I’ve never been through apartheid but by reading this book, A Long Walk Home, it gave me a view of apartheid through a young boy’s eyes, Joseph Mackenzie, who lived through apartheid. He lived with his family in the township of Soweto during the old South Africa, not of what I know today.

Joseph Mackenzie tells us the story of him growing up with his mother and finding ways of supporting and protecting her. He just wants to tell people how he had to grow up in the rough times of apartheid and how it affected him.

Joseph has told a story of truth about apartheid and speaks of his experiences very clearly. Naazneen has sequenced the story in an excellent way for the reader to understand. It is also a great book in educating youngsters to understand apartheid.

As a ten year old boy living in the townships, life without his father was tough. Joseph seemed to have a low self esteem due to apartheid and this gives him a very serious character for a young man.

Apartheid was over in 1994 but the effects of it still lives on today like racism however this didn’t bring Joseph and many others down. They all overcame it in their own way and got help from those want to hear their stories.

Evaluation-Term 3

Evaluation-Term 3

Term 3 has been a great experience! I looked forward to our English lessons everyday. I really enjoyed the poetry lessons and the reciting of the poems on the microphone. I have developed as a person as well. We had also delivered our plays based on our visit to Sharpeville. I loved doing the plays as I played a ‘sangoma’ and enjoyed the experience…it was exciting. It gave me confidence- the fact that I put myself out there and did what I enjoy!!!
